FabA$s

Happy hump day everyone!

Hope your week is going swell and dandy. I gotta double dose of blogging for ya today. One sweet treat, and an as$-kickin' workout, literally.

I tried this recipe with oats with "eh" results, but these came out pretty tasty. How would you like to have cookies & cream fo' yo' breakfast?!

I thought so. My only 'ish with this one is the chocolate grahams. The just weren't that "chocolately." That's what I get for store brand. Pff. But either way this bowl is a mighty fine way to start the day. If chocolate sweet goodness is your kinda thing.

Cookies & Cream Shredded Wheat Bowl
serves 1

1 cup shredded wheat, unfrosted
2 sheets chocolate graham crackers, crushed
1/3 c plain low-fat yogurt
1/2 c milk
1 tsp vanilla
1 tsp stevia (or sweetener of choice)

Add shredded wheat and 3/4 of the chocolate grahams to a bowl.

Add the remaining ingredients and stir until fully combined.

Top with the remaining chocolate grahams, and inhale delightfully.

Now you can use the frosted shredded wheat if you prefer, which I'm sure would be nothing less than awesome. I just suggest to ex-nay the extra sweetener. I'm sure you're sweet enough ; )

And after you're doped up on a hearty bowl of COOOOO-kies and cream, it's time to kick it. *Cue Ice, Ice, Baby please.

Imma call this Butts N' Guts cuz I'm cool like that and it sums up what this workout entails. It's a circuit workout based off Jillian Michael's 30-Day Shred concept of 3 minutes strength, 2 minutes cardio, and 1 minute abs for a 20 minute non-stop as$ kicking. How fitting. Here it goes:

Butts N' Roses Guts Circuit
*5-10 lb dumbbells and stability ball required

1 minute Jumping Jacks

30 seconds each side hydrants
1 minute each side donkey kicks

30 seconds rotating jump squats
30 seconds skaters                           X2

1 minute rocking plank

1.5 minute stability ball hamstring curl
1.5 minutes deadlifts

30 seconds Burpees
30 seconds butt kicks       X2

1 minute alternating crunches on stability ball

1 minute each leg single leg squat
1 minute wall squat

1 minute lunge run (switch legs half way through) [static lunge while pumping arms]
1 minute jumping jacks

30 seconds each side side plank lifts

1 minute Jump Rope

Your as$ and abs are welcome. TTFN!

Raindrops on roses...

and whiskers on kittens! You know it. Don't lie. Sound of music is right up there with Bridesmaids as your favorite movie.

Anyways, this segways into "My Favorite Things":

1.) Fall ( my head is spinning from all my pumpkin-related pinning) so witty, i know
2.) Yoga pants. When will they invent biz-casual yoga pants?! Get with it victoria's secret!!
3.) Peanut Butter. Literally on anything. Literally in my mouth....literally.
4.) The french word "Parapluie" meaning umbrella. And yes, every french word must be italicized.

Ok i think that was the most random list of favorite things I could come up with. But they are legit.

I've been meaning to put this recipe up for a while now, but alas my hunger and lack of ambition has prevailed. Don't fret! I have finally dedicated my 3.5 seconds to take a picture of one of my go-to favorite breakfasts for you to try. It's not quite a parfait, but more than a cereal. Mind-boggling goodness is what it is.

Shredded Wheat Breakfast Bowl
serves 1

1 1/4 cups unfrosted shredded wheat
1/2 cup milk
1/2 cup plain yogurt
1 tsp vanilla
1/2 banana, sliced
cinnamon to taste

Simply combine everything in a bowl, and mix until combined. If you prefer vanilla yogurt, you can of course use that and leave out the extra vanilla. I added 1/2 tablespoon chia seeds to mine this morning to help thicken it up, since I ran out of yogurt.

I like to top mine with another favorite of mine, which I call peanut butter sauce:

Start by slicing half a banana (frozen slices work best), and heat a microwave safe bowl for 1 minute, until the banana is "melty" and warm.

Stir in 1 tablespoon of peanut butter, until mixture is combined. Add cinnamon if you please.

I can't wait to try this with pumpkin with fall coming up, and even applesauce. In the words of Will Ferrell, it's gunna be "scrumtrulesant"!

Plain ol' shredded wheat is just as it seems by itself. Cardboard. But once you make this bowl, you will think twice about it's deceptively sweet counterparts. The mixture is thick, creamy, and the perfect amount of sweet. Give the wheat a try!

Warm and gooey peanut butter sauce.  Oh, yes.

I'm compiling an extensive list of fall recipes to try, which could take me a while. Some I plan on posting are Banana Bread oatmeal, yeast-free cinnamon rolls, and a veggie stew!

What are some of your favorite fall time treats?

It's On, UConn!

It's official! I leave for my 8 week NACUFS internship at the University of Connecticut tomorrow! Although my summer vaca was just about a week long I got A LOT accomplished. Got my first car (on my own I might add!), had a blast at a Jack & Jill for my bride-to-be Katie, saw plenty of friends and family, along with countless other things I needed before departing for the majority of the summer. The only thing left, and of course the biggest task at hand is finding my housing for my Alabama internship. One day at a time though....

I have long been wanting to try this recipe and with the gorgeous sun and time on my hands I am glad I tried it today! Be warned. This is extremely addicting. Proceed with caution!

I always buy the plain shredded wheat cereal for one of my morning routine breakfasts. Sounds boring, I know, but I jazz it up so it doesn't resemble eating soggy cardboard. I will post a recipe sometime soon for my breakfast bowl concoction with shredded wheat, yogurt, milk, and mix-ins. Being a blank canvas as the plain shredded wheat is, I thought it was a perfect opportunity to make homemade triscuits, or something similar. The bite-sized biscuits are pretty much triscuits on their own, but with a lack-luster flavor, calling to be dowsed in a buttery, salty bath. It also reminded me of making homemade chex mix, thus I call it Trix-Mix!

Trix-Mix
serves 1 (but easily adapted for more)

1 cup Unfrosted shredded wheat cereal
1/2 T light butter spread ( I used Smart Balance Light Butter & Canola oil spread)
1/4 tsp ea. of Salt, pepper, & garlic powder
1/8 tsp Paprika

All you do is melt the butter spread in the microwave, which takes about only 15-20 seconds. I would imagine you could also use an olive oil for a nice flavor. If someone experiments with it let me know.

Next, add the shredded wheat to a re-sealable plastic container. Tupperware works just dandy.

Add the spices to the melted butter, mix well, and pour over the shredded wheat. Seal on the cover and shake until every biscuit is coated. Transfer to a sheet pan to dry for an hour or so, or do as I did and dig in right away!

I seriously could not stop eating this stuff! It has inspired me to try again and again, experimenting with different flavors! Cajun, Parmesan, Rosemary...the possibilities are endless! This serving has 160 calories, but if you used a regular butter or oil it would be a bit higher, but still a healthy and oh so delicious snack. They are perfect for dipping in hummus, or shoveling in your mouth which I am about to do right about........

Any flavor ideas out there?
